Although getting out and about on a family bike ride is a great way to keep kids active, it can sometimes be tricky to find the perfect route if you've got younger children or less experienced riders.
We've put together a list of 5 awesome bike rides in Brisbane that, as well as being suitable for kids of all ages, are brilliant for training wheels or bicycle beginners.
Perrin Park, Toowong
Perrin Park in Toowong is a bike track that is perfect for little riders! There are two pathways to follow - the first is long and winding, working its way throughout the park and around the playground. This trail is littered with friendly street signs that kids will love to read and interact with, and although there are some bends in the route, they are more than gentle enough for new riders.

The second bike path is just as smooth and well maintained as the first, however it encircles the entire park. Kids will not only love to ride their bikes here, but can also burn extra energy on Perrin Park's awesome playground.
Carindale to Minnippi Parklands, Carindale The journey starts from the park area near Westfield Carindale and follows the Bulimba Creek all the way to the luscious grasslands of Minnippi. The entire route is 9km which obviously may be a bit too far for little legs, so feel free to start closer down the track; there is a playground about halfway along that would make a great beginning point.

The bike path itself is smooth, level and easy to navigate, with only a few gentle slopes, and kids will love to cycle over the little bridges and take in the wonderful surroundings.
Thompson's Beach Esplanade, Victoria Point Okay, so it's not the longest of bike routes but Thompson's Beach Esplanade is perfect for children who are just finding their 'bicycle' feet. The pathway is wide enough for riders to not crash into anyones legs and runs right alongside the beach. Kids will find the smooth, even ground easy to ride on and there are no sharp bends or dips, as well as no steep inclines.

There are also two playgrounds along the way in case kids want to take a little break- this one is a firm favourite with our four year old.
Wynnum to Manly Foreshore We couldn't write a list of ideal children's bike rides and not include the 'Wynnum to Manly Esplanade' - a smooth, well maintained bike path that runs alongside the seafront and is surrounded by gorgeous scenery, beach style cafes and children's play areas. The entire route is around 10km there and back, however it is such an enjoyable route, with so much going on around it, that it feels much shorter.

The pathway is shared between walkers and cyclists, so no need to worry about littles ones suffering any collisions, and it's the perfect place to take new riders. With playgrounds, a wading pool and water areas also featured along the way, this one will be a sure fire hit with the kids.
Sandgate Foreshore This easy cycle route is roughly around 6km there and back, and runs alongside Sandgate's wonderful shore line, ending at the historical jetty at Shorncliffe. There's lots to see and do along the way, why not take a break and stop off at one of the waterfront picnic spots? Or let kids stop and have a play at one of the number of playgrounds that are located along the pathway?

The best place to start is at the Sandgate swimming pool on Flinders parade, then simply head along the esplanade.
