Everyone loves a good bargain! And for all you thrifty mummies who also like a cup of Joe and a playground sojourn, this three part article series is right up your tag-popping alley!
I'm going to tell you about three awesome activities that are all within walking distance of each other!
The first 'Trifecta' is based in Bardon- my neck of the woods! First up check out the BICARE Thrift Store on Morgan Terrace. It's a cute little thrift shop run by a lovely gaggle of local ladies, and as it's in a bit of 'noice' area, it often has some pretty stellar buys. Last time I was there I picked up a brand-new (still with tags) pair of ladies sneaker Crocs, and a Lego storage head still in the box!

There are lots of books, clothes, kids stuff and toys. It's only a small store, but it's packed with some really great stuff. They also have a shelf of handmade jams and pickles - pretty cute! If that's not enough retail therapy for you, then make sure to visit the second-hand book shop next door, which is home to loads of kids books and a large range of fiction.
Now that you've snagged a bargain or two, you might need a coffee! Head next door to Karobean Cafe where the babycinos are free - yes free! There is a cute little play area at the back and they offer free wifi too, so you can Instagram your latte and your cute kids!

Now that you're all pepped up on caffeine and free babycinos, it's time to play, and Bowman park is just over the road!
There are two playgrounds in this huge park, the first being just off Simpsons Road- a big shaded area with bark soft fall, and although it is only partially fenced, it's a fair distance from the main road. The creek is also right next to this park, and once you're all 'played out' you can wander down to 'Frog Hollow' to find lots of interesting creatures.
Playground Number One
The second playground in Bowman Park is along David Avenue (off Simpsons Road). There's plenty for the kids to enjoy, including swings, a small fort, see saw and play cafe. Just like the first, this playground is also shaded with bark soft fall, and there are lots of places to sit and watch as your children play.
The middle of Bowman Park is a soccer field, which makes for a fun hour or so of running, jumping and kicking balls about.
Surrounded by huge old gum trees, it really is a beautiful place to visit, with plenty to see and do. Why not let your kids ride their scooters and bikes along one of the many pathways? Or for the more adventurous, head on over to the BMX dirt jumps course.
Playground Number Two
So if you want to plan a packed morning of activities, why not give these places a go? Shopping, coffee date and an awesome park, all within a few hundred meters of each other!
BICARE thrift store is open 9:30am - 4pm on weekdays and 9:30am - 12:30pm on a Saturday. All funds raised go to helping children with acquired brain injuries at the Mater Children's Hospital Rehabilitation Unit.
Karobean Cafe is open 7:30am - 5pm weekdays and 7:30am - 1pm weekends.
