A lego wall, coffee cart and a playground next door
[Link https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/things-to-see-and-do/council-venues-and-precincts/libraries/library-locations/bracken-ridge-library ] has just undergone a massive renovation and is now one of the best libraries on Brisbane's northside. It is well worth a visit, especially during the school holidays, where there are sure to be a number of fun activities happening.
With plenty of onsite parking, including lots of undercover parking which is perfect for a hot or rainy day, the library is located next to a playground with lots of all ages equipment. Equipment including a climbing web and frame, fort, slides, a variety of swings and see-saws. There is also plenty of grassy space for a picnic before your library adventure.
Also outside the library is a beautiful big deck with tables and chairs and a coffee cart. I had a lovely chat to the lady running the cart, and she said they would be there each weekday from 9am to 1pm and then Saturday mornings. It is a Maleney Dairy coffee cart so there is both coffee and gelato. This outdoor space is perfect for a catch up with the Mums you will meet at the weekly rhyme or story time classes.
Inside, the library is light and bright with lots of splashes of colour and break out spaces for reading and enjoying some quiet time. There are plenty of computers and other information services available.
The children's book section is absolutely gorgeous. Walking through a big pineapple opening, there are plenty of cushy chairs for curling up with a book. There is also a play 'fruit and vegetable shop', some maze games and inside a giant apple is a lego wall and a cubby house to play in. It is truly a wonderful free space for Brisbane kids to enjoy.
During my visit, I also attended rhyme time with both my baby and my toddler and it was one of the better ones I have been to. It is in a separate room, right next to the children's book section. The staff member who ran it had puppets and props and was very enthusiastic. You can find out more about the library events [Link https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/things-to-see-and-do/council-venues-and-precincts/libraries/library-locations/bracken-ridge-library here.].
