One of the spectacular features of the Brisbane Central Business during the festive season is the town square's giant, bauble-filled Christmas Tree. Following decades of tradition, the People's Christmas Tree will take up a prime position in Brisbane's King George Square, in front of City Hall during the holidays to dazzle and illuminate the City.
On 29 November 2024, Lord Mayor Adrian Shrinner will officially turn on the lights of the 22-metre tree to add nighttime shine and sparkle across the Square. Rumour has it that Santa and his helpers will be dropping by for a dance performance around the tree.
The
free, family-friendly event will happen from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. International singing sensation and Brisbane local
Dami Im , will also be performing on the night of the opening.
But it's not all about the Christmas Tree. The heritage-listed City Hall Building will also be coming to light as it is the backdrop to a vibrant display of hologram visuals, festive sounds, and a heart-warming story for the whole family to enjoy.
Continue this Brisbane tradition of viewing the tree or make it a new part of your Christmas. You can see the tree for yourself from Friday 29 November 2024 to Sunday 5 January 2025.
King George Square is located in the city centre of Adelaide and Ann Streets, Brisbane. The Square is accessible by bus, train and ferry (to the CBD). A commercial car park is also available next to the Square.
