Brisbane Festival for Families

A world class arts festival in Brisbane

Brisbane Festival is back in 2019 from 6th to 28th September. It is a world class arts festival featuring some incredible acts of music, theatre, dance, comedy, opera, circus and more.

It is not just for the adults either, there is plenty for the kids to enjoy. Including the incredible Sunsuper Riverfire, which is an explosion of fireworks over our stunning city.

Do you want to learn how to knit? Or have recently started and would like to meet some new friends to share your creativity with, all while having a good chat? The Brisbane Knitting Club has classes for you!
Taking place in a variety of venues in Brisbane including CBD, Southbank, The Valley, Kangaroo Point and Kelvin Grove, Brisbane Festival is joyous, fun and an outlet to enjoy magic and creativity. The Spiegeltent in particular is a spectacular venue.

So what is happening for families?

Music

Fire Gardens at City Botanic Gardens. The gardens will be transformed into a maze with lights, flames, music and sculptures.

Regurgitators Pogo Show at The Tivoli. See this famous band perform a live show with music written just for kids.

Dan Sultan's Nali and Friends at The Spiegeltent. A dance and laugh along musical tale about animals from all around the world.

Circus

We Live Here at QPAC. An award winning circus show by Flipside Circus.

Brat Kids Carnival at QPAC. A circus show of hula hoops, acrobatics and clowns.

Trash Test Dummies at The Spiegeltent. An award winning comedy circus routine.

Theatre

Tetris at QPAC. Featuring acrobats bringing the popular game to life.

A Not So Traditional Story at QPAC. A beautiful and funny show featuring masks, shadow puppetry and physical theatre.

Dr Audiyo's Giant Adventure at The Spiegeltent. Theatre and comedy featuring a beatboxing clown-come-superhero.

And the most important category is:

FREE

River of Light at the Treasury Brisbane Arcadia. A stunning light and laser water fountain display.

Symphony for Me at Riverstage. See the Queensland Symphony Orchestra perform.

Smashdown! at Brisbane City Hall. Join in challenges for Nine's new children's sports show.

Sunsuper Riverfire at Southbank. The jewel of Brisbane Festival, the explosion of fireworks over our incredible city is not to be missed. Lots of crowds though!
