School Holidays are once again upon us and this mega long Christmas/Summer break is a big one! Luckily though, the weather is gorgeous outside in Brisbane at this time of year, and there are so many great activities to get involved in. There are Christmas themed activities in December and so many fun events in January!

Here is our guide to some of the best school holiday activities and events that Brisbane has on offer:

Build at Construction Site Building Blocks at Ipswich Art Gallery

Construction Site Building Blocks is a fun, interactive art activity for children and families that encourages children to use their imagination to build out of foam blocks. The sky is the limit, children can build a sky scraper, cubby or even a whole city.

See Fantastic Mr Fox at QPAC

Roald Dahl’s classic 'Fantastic Mr Fox' returns to QPAC for the whole family to enjoy as a stage production. It is a witty tale and the stage production is set to be hilarious, entertaining and delightful. Watch the clever Mr Fox outwit the farmers and learn a few lessons along the way.

Free January School Holiday Program at Everton Park Hotel

There is plenty to do at the Everton Park Hotel to keep the kids entertained these summer school holidays! With a range of FREE activities, this is the place to enjoy a family weekday lunch. Every weekday from Monday, 6th January to Friday, 24th January between 11am and 1pm, the Everton Park Hotel will offer free carousel rides daily, plus a range of other daily activities to keep the kids entertained while you sit down for a meal.

Along with these activities, kids meals are just $10 when you purchase a main meal, and include choice of lunch item, ice-cream and small soft drink! That’s the best value kids’ lunch around!

WILD School Holidays at Cleveland Central

Get WILD at Cleveland Central with FREE summer school holiday activities! Located outside Woolworths, these activities are a fantastic, budget-friendly opportunity to entertain the kids while you tackle your weekly grocery shop.

In week 1, come along and see an exotic bird display on Tuesday 7, Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 January 2020 from 10am to 1pm. Share cuddles and photos with your new feathery friends and learn more about these beautiful creatures.

In week 2, come along for the clay bugs and sensory play workshop! On Tuesday 14, Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 January 2020 from 10am to 1pm, the kids can create their very own clay bugs and creepy crawlies and engage the senses in the sensory bug habitat.

Brisbane International Tennis Tournament

The Brisbane International is coming to the Queensland Tennis Centre, with the strongest field in its history. Led my Australia's own world number one, Ash Barty, both the men's and women's tournaments will be held over 12 days in January. Tickets are on sale now.

Big Screen On The Green

Big Screen On The Green is Brisbane’s best open air entertainment venue and is located at Eagle Farm Racecourse. Gather your family and picnic rug and watch a movie under the stars on the southern hemisphere's largest movie screen. You can also opt for a gourmet food and beverage package.

Museum of Brisbane Kids Activities

The Museum of Brisbane has lots of free or low cost activities over Christmas and the new year just for kids. These include arts and crafts activities like making Christmas wreaths, tours of the museum just for kids, and even a Summer silent disco. Learn circus skills at Circus Arts

Golf Central nearby to the Brisbane DFO is running a holiday program on circus arts. Kids can learn how to trapeze, juggling, pyramids, low aerials, hula hoops, tight-wire and even play mini golf. It is an outdoor venue so weather dependent.

See Room on the Broom

The very popular children's book 'Room on the Broom' by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler is going to be performed live on stage! See for yourself how the cat purred and how the witch grinned, at QUT Gardens Theatre. Suitable for ages three and up.

The XPress Fun Train at Southbank

All aboard the XPress Fun Train is back at Southbank this school holidays! Southbank has got even more fun, with the arrival of the train. The trackless train will wind its way from one end of the Parklands to the other.

Kids Holiday Activities at Caboolture Historical Village

The Caboolture Historical Village will be hosting school holiday activities over two days this December. Kids can do some arts and craft, sieve for gems, play games and much more. There will be a sausage sizzle as well.

QUT Summer Holiday Program

QUT at Garden's Point have an awesome summer holiday program with lots of fun activities for kids. See the new interactive screen project 'The Living Reef'. Drop in for a range of family-friendly activities, take a guided tour, or discover more about the wonders of the underwater world at one of our hands-on workshops.

Aqua Slash at Redcliffe

Aqua Splash is an open water fun park that is great for adventurous kids to flip, slide and test their water skills. It is an obstacle course, fun park and a really great time for everyone. Even the older teens and adults will love it.

Speak Up Studio Holiday Workshops

Speak Up Studio is a speech and drama studio that teaches drama programs that build confidence and encourage children to be positive about speaking up. Their programs give children the opportunity to make friends, dress up in costumes, develop a love of reading and literature and extend their performance skills in a supportive, and non-competitive environment. They offer school holiday workshops ranging from one day to a full week.
