A list of some of the best bakeries in Brisbane

A visit to a bakery is such a quintessential Australian custom. From the traditional provisions like meat pies, sausage rolls, salad rolls, neenish tarts, jam doughnuts and crusty bread. To the more upscale and speciality treats like croissants, artisan bread, caramel slices and organic salads, the list just goes on!

So where are some of Brisbane's best bakeries? Here is a list of places that have come recommended from Brisbane Mums Group. Some also will make a cake for an upcoming birthday party.

Banneton Bakery is all about producing food in the most natural way possible and using quality ingredients. As well as serving up breads, pastries, pies, quiches and salads, they also serve delicious barista made coffee to go alongside what you choose. With three locations and also making special appearances at the Kelvin Grove and Milton Markets, add Banneton to your bakery bucket list.

This stunning french bakery is a bit fancy pants and specialises in artisan breads, sweet breads, pastries, cakes and savoury items. Their eclairs, macarons and sourdough loaves are truly something special. You can stay for breakfast or lunch or pick up something to go and head to nearby New Farm Park to eat by the waterfront.

3. [Link Crust and Company Artisan Bakery] - Newmarket

If sourdough loaves and French pastries are your thing, then head on down to Crust and Company at Newmarket. You can see the bakers creating the goods in this converted old Brisbane factory and enjoy a fresh baked baguette, croissant, rolls or sourdough with no added preservatives.

Flour and Chocolate do days of the week pastries so there is your best excuse to try one for seven days straight just to be fair on all the produce. Head in for doughnut Wednesday, brownie Friday or even focaccia Saturday. I will definitely be checking out Sunday Funday.

Jacobs Bakery has an extremely loyal following on Brisbane's northside. They have classic quality bakery items like fresh breads, pies, sandwiches, cakes and other treats. The food is fresh and nostalgic and will instantly take you back to your childhood and eating cream cakes in your Grandma's kitchen.

Jacob's Bakery also does incredible and yet affordable custom cakes, cupcakes and even croquembouche's!

With a permanent store at Albion, and pop up stores open at James Street and Camp Hill, Jocelyn's Provisions is a purveyor of fine cakes, bread, pastries and provisions. They also do [Link children's cooking classes] for the budding young cooks/bakers in your family.

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm, Saturday 7am to 4pm and Sunday 9am to 3pm.

7. [Link Vanilla Pod] - Ascot

I put this one in as it is my personal favourite bakery and cafe in Brisbane. It is absolutely gorgeous and I am blown away by the quality and the utter beauty of the pastries and cakes every time I walk in.

Located a stone's throw from Oriel Park at Ascot, you can pick up a stunning pastry and a coffee and then head on down to Oriel Park so your kids can have a play in the fully fenced playground and you can enjoy your treat in peace.

Vanilla Pod has cakes, catering, gourmet foods, breakfast, lunch and coffee. It is also a lovely place to meet a friend for a catch up at the sit-down cafe area.
