These playgrounds in the western suburbs all offer something special

Whether you are new to Brisbane, new to the western suburbs, or just tired of going to the same old playground and want to vary your routine, then here is the inspiration you are looking for. All of these playgrounds have been tried and tested by a Brisbane Mum, and each offer up something special.

Here is our pick of the best playgrounds on the southside of Brisbane. Do you have any more to add?

Frew Park, Milton

What's so special The children's playground, aptly named 'The Arena' is more like a work of art than a play area, and has a unique, angular design and a somewhat industrial feel to it.

Lorikeet Park, Mt Ommaney

What's so special This fully fenced playground has equipment for all ages including a fantastic flying fox.

Milton Railway Playground, Milton

What's so special This fully fenced playground has a train theme with a big train to climb over, as well as an ice cream shop and petrol station. More than just your average play equipment.

Where is it 28 Eagle Terrace, Milton

Perrin Park, Toowong

What's so special Kids can enjoy Perrin Park's playground, with its climbing nets, swings, slide and roundabout, or why not ask your party guests to bring along their bike or scooter and have a race along one of Perrin's winding pathways.

Where is it Just off Gailey Rd, Toowong

Grinstead Park, Enoggera

What's so special There is a large wooden fort playground, tunnel slide, climbing nets and various other play equipment, including imagination play shops and cafes for little ones. There are BBQs and picnic areas, ideal for serving up party grub, as well as on site toilet facilities and plenty of parking for party guests.

Rocks Riverside Park, Seventeen Mile Rocks

What's so special The most special part of Rocks Riverside is the water play area that operates in the summer months. There is a shallow wading pool, man made streams and fountains shooting water. Itís the perfect antidote on a hot day and is suitable for all ages.

Biami Yumba Park, Fig Tree Pocket

What's so special Built around a lagoon (the home of some ducks!) resulting in beautiful views all around, it is the perfect setting to have a coffee while your little person has a wonderful time playing. The playground equipment is modern and well cared for and there is plenty suitable for all age groups.

Booker Place Park, Bellbowrie

What's so special With some great equipment including a sandpit, flying fox, swings and lots of forts with slides, ladders and cargo nets, it is in a beautiful nature setting with an excellent dog park as well if you have a furry friend.

Where is it Birkin Road, Bellbowrie

Sherwood Arboretum, Sherwood

What's so special There are two playgrounds, a duck pond and a jetty for fishing. It is the perfect spot for a day long picnic or family gathering.
