Celebrate Mother's Day in Brisbane 2019

by Sally Foster (follow)
A list of events being held in Brisbane for Mothers Day 2019

When my partner asks me what I want for Mother's Day, my top three answers are always:

1. Sleep In.
2. Break from any housework and cooking
3. Not to be asked any questions about what I want to do for Mother's Day and just have it all organised for me.

You and your family are invited to a Photography for Parents Workshop on Sunday 28th April at New Farm Park.
But I think that I need to aim higher. Mums have a really hard job, and we deserve to be celebrated and spoiled.

Here are some ideas for what you can do for Mother's Day in Brisbane this year. All events listed are held on 12th May unless otherwise stated.

For the champagne and wine loving Mum

At $59pp and located in Bowen Hills, it includes a buffet with a glass of champagne on arrival. Children are welcome and under 5 are free.

Sirromet Winery is hosting either a mother's day breakfast or lunch at their beautiful restaurant as well as an event which includes golf for the kids, live music, kids rides, food trucks and trackless train. Bookings for the restaurant are essential and selling fast.

For the sweets loving Mum

Held at the Redlands Showground, this festival is dedicated to all things sweet and delicious with Queensland's best dessert chefs bringing you access to a huge selection of street food, live music, pop-up bars, dessert cocktails, kids activities and entertainment.

Head to Mount Cotton for a beautiful high tea in intimate bushland with hand made treats and coffee being served. Booking essential.

The Brisbane Crochet Club meets weekly to learn crochet, meet other Brisbane mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!
For the Mum who just wants a chance to relax

Treat Mum to a relaxing day at Manly Harbour with markets, shopping, spas, restaurants and music in the park.

Enjoy an indulgent day spa or even just an hour of beauty at one of these incredible places as recommended by other Brisbane Mum's.
- Sakura Day Spa in New Farm
- Harbour Day Spa in Cleveland
- Stephanies Luxury Spa in Cleveland, Bulimba, Brisbane CBD, Noosa or Clear Mountain.

For the adventurous or sporty Mum

Walk or run for breast cancer research at this years Mother's Day Classic held at South Bank on 12 May.

Have a two hour session of yoga and relaxation with the aim to bring you peace. Held at Soho Yoga at the Grange, bookings are essential and accompanied by head and foot massage.

For the artistic Mum

The museum is hosting a few things for Mother's Day this year that the whole family can get involved in! There is going to be free screen printing as well as a Family Tree Collage Workshop where the whole family can work together to make their own family tree. Bookings essential.

The Sofitel is hosting a beautiful high tea which includes an exclusive performance by the Queensland Ballet academy to make it truly special. Children under 5 are free and bookings are essential.

If none of these events take your fancy, or if you are looking for free ideas, why not give these ideas a try:

- Ask for your kids to make you homemade mother's day gifts. Also ask your partner. I would love to see what my husband comes up with!

- Have your family create a pancake making station for the everyone to enjoy. Include different toppings like fruit, cream, sprinkles, nuts and of course, champagne on the side

- Enjoy an at home 'spa'. A two hour retreat at home, complete with face mask, coffee scrub and a massage. And an uninterrupted shower. All set up by someone that is not you

- Send your family to the local park and head to your local shopping centre instead, where you can wander the aisles without children in tow

If you know of any other events in your local area, please share in the comments. We would love to hear from you!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL YOU BEAUTIFUL MUMS
