I love having regular date nights with my partner. It keeps us connected and gives us a bit of a break from the endless cycle of parenthood. After all, we were a two person family before the kids came along!
But it can get a little boring going out for dinner all the time. So if you are looking for a few ideas outside of the box that are fun and a great way to spend some time with your significant other, why not give one of these a go.
Listen to some live jazz, funk, soul and blues music every Tuesday through to Saturday night at Doo Bop Jazz Bar. With late acts, jam sessions, a twenties themed gatsby bar and a piano bar, you can dance with your date and enjoy the amazing ambience. For upcoming events and gigs, including ticket costs and times, see here.
You and your family are invited to a Photography for Parents Workshop on Sunday 28th April at New Farm Park.
Take in a play, film, live event or even the upcoming Comedy Festival at Brisbane's iconic Powerhouse. The Comedy Festival is running now until 24th March, but there are excellent events all year round. You can check out their website for upcoming events. The Powerhouse is also in a beautiful location and perfect for a stroll along the river either before or after the show.
See the lights of Brisbane city from a 360-degree panoramic view from Brisbane's iconic Story Bridge. You can partake in a twilight climb for extra romance and also get some exercise in at the same time. You can book online here.
Combine mini golf with drinks, cocktails and tunes in a super fun atmosphere at the truly excellent Holey Moley in the Valley. Choose from 9 or 18 holes and you can have some friendly competition and winner buys the next round of drinks. There are mid week deals if you check out their website.
I love a movie montage where the couple is in the kitchen laughing and throwing flour on each others faces while they make perfect looking croissants or pizzas. The problem with bringing this fantasy to reality is that only I can cook! But cooking is extremely tactile and learning a new skill together can make bonds so much stronger. James Street Cooking Schools runs regular classes where you can get your hands dirty and do some fabulous cookery.
Location: 22 James St, Fortitude Valley
