Family Friendly Australia Day Events 2019

Spend Australia Day at one of these family friendly affairs

It is the biggest public holiday of the year here in Australia so how will you be spending the day? Don't worry too much if you have got no plans as of yet because there are heaps of events going on in and around Brisbane for you to choose from! Here is a rundown of some of the best:

1. Australia Day in Redcliffe

You and your family are invited to a Photography for Parents Workshop on Sunday 28th April at New Farm Park.
The Brisbane Crochet Club meets weekly to learn crochet, meet other Brisbane mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!
Head to Suttons Beach at Redcliffe for live music, beach volleyball and cricket, free games and activities and food trucks. There will also be free inflatables and fireworks.

Date and Time: 26 January 3pm
Location: 15 Marine Parade, Redcliffe.

2. Australia Day by the Bay

The Moreton Bay Boat Club is hosting a free Australia Day festival with crab racing, mullet chucking, thong throwing, jumping castle, face painting and snow cones.

Do you want to learn how to knit? Or have recently started and would like to meet some new friends to share your creativity with, all while having a good chat? The Brisbane Knitting Club has classes for you!
The Brisbane Crochet Club meets weekly to learn crochet, meet other Brisbane mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!
Date and Time: 26 January at midday
Location: 34 Fairlead Crescent, Manly.

3. Australia Day Carpark Party

The North Lakes Club is hosting a free carpark party with a waterslide, jumping castle, face painting, animal farm, pop up bar, food trucks, live entertainment and a free Inexcess tribute show from 8.30pm.

Date and Time: 26 January 3pm.
Location: 36-42 Flinders Parade, North Lakes.

4. Greater Springfield Fun Fair

The greater Springfield fun fair event will have rides, entertainment, food trucks and fireworks.

Date and Time: 26 January 5pm
Location: Tournament Drive, Brookwater.

5. Caboolture Historical Village

With food, stalls, entertainment and toad races, there will be games for the kids and ice cold beer at the micro brewery for the adults.

Date and Time: 26 January 9am
Location: 280 Beerburrum Road, Caboolture.

6. Australia Day Weekend at the Bistro

Enjoy Australia Day at Victoria Park, soak in beautiful views of Brisbane and take part in lawn games, face painting, jumping castle, live music and market carts. And enjoy some delicious Aussie inspired food at the bistro like slow roasted lamb shoulder with mint sauce and pavlova with mango and raspberries, fresh cream and mint.

Date and Time: 26 January 10am to 27 January 5:30pm
Location: 309 Herston Road, Herston.

6. Australia Day at Aussie World

What better place to celebrate Australia than at the world inspired by this beautiful country. It is a fun filled day of Aussie events like dunny races and live music.

Date and Time: 26 January 8am
Location: 73 Frizzo Road, Bruce Highway, Palmview.

7. Australia Day at Sandstone Point Hotel

The magnificent and family friendly Sandstone Point Hotel is hosting water slides, pools and a giant slip n slide for a fun filled day. There will also be Aussie lamb barbie, lamington eating competitions, live music and entertainment.

Location: 1800 Bribie Island Road,
Sandstone Point.

8. Fireworks at South Bank

Perhaps the most iconic of all the Australia Day events is our very own fireworks and live music at South Bank. The most quintessential Aussie spot in all of Brisbane, you can soak in those city views and take a dip in the beautiful lagoon.

Date and Time: 26 January from 1pm
Location: South Bank.
