Family Friendly Ideas For Easter 2019

by Sally Foster (follow)
Easter themed family events around Brisbane 2019

Easter is just around the corner. The Easter Bunny is getting his basket of eggs ready. The Easter decorations at the shopping centre finally make sense. I am already preparing myself for all the chocolate I am about to eat.

Chocolate aside, Easter means a lot of different things to different people. And there are plenty of events being held for Easter in Brisbane this year.

These are a few of the family friendly events that are being held:

1. North Brisbane Easter Festival

The North Brisbane Easter Festival is back again for another year of family friend fun. Featuring an easter egg hunt, inflatables, food trucks, photo booth, chai tent, graffiti wall, petting zoo, face painting, crafts, live music, games, competitions and more. All age groups will find something for them at this annual event.

Best of all? Its free! Just come along with your family members in tow and a great big smile on your face, ready for some memory making.

Date: 19 to 20 April from 10am to 7pm.
Location: Wests Mitchelton RLFC

2. Forest Lake's Annual Easter Carnival

Another free event, The Forest Lake Easter Carnival will feature an easter egg hunt, bonnet parade, colouring competitions, jumping castle and special guest host The Easter Bunny stopping by. There will be a sausage sizzle, coffee and cake stands and plenty of sweets and yummy things for the kids.

Date: 6 April 2pm to 5pm
Location: 528 Waterford Road, Ellen Grove

3. Salisbury Easter Egg Hunt

Hosted by Mark Ward Property, this annual easter egg hunt is being held at Russ Park. There will be a bbq, colouring in competitions, craft, face painting and of course the easter egg hunt with the easter bunny featuring.

Date: 9 April 10am to 12pm
Location: Allandale Street, Salisbury

4. Redcliffe Festival of Sails

This huge annual event is an incredible day out for the whole family. Taking place at the gorgeous Suttons Beach in Redcliffe, as well as enjoying the best waterfront views of the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race which is Australia’s second biggest yacht race, there is also a huge calendar of events happening. There will be easter themed free entertainment and activities. Children will love the free workshops and activities, Easter egg hunt, rides and amusements, and the famous sky diving Easter Bunny. For the adults there are market stalls, live music and entertainment.

Date: 19 April 9am to 4pm
Location: Suttons Beach, Redcliffe

5. Easter Eggstravaganza

You can celebrate all weekend at Victoria Park Easter Eggstravaganza. The bistro will be opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a chocolate twist. There will be loads of Easter themed activities as well as the famed putt putt course. These include egg and spoon races, jumping castle, petting zoo, face painting, and crafts.

Date: 20 to 21 April 9am to 2pm
Location: 309 Herston Road, Herston

6. Easter Egg Hunt at The Shed

Head to The Shed Australian Co at Burpengary for an afternoon spent hunting for easter eggs, face painting, jumping castles, petting zoo, live music and food stalls. Entry is $10 and you can book ahead to avoid disappointment.

Date: 21 April 3pm to 6pm
Location: 12 Ruatoka Court, Burpengary

7. Easter Eggstravaganza at Sandstone Point Hotel

Head to the iconic Sandstone Point Hotel for a massive easter egg hunt of over 6000 eggs. There will also be live entertainment, kids rides, a visit from the Easter Bunny himself and more. The inflatable waterpark, Waterworld Central, will also be onsite from 10am to 4pm if it's a hot day. There is free entry to the easter egg hunt but you need to pre register ahead of time. Tickets for the splash park can also be booked online.

Date: 21 April from 10am
Location: 1800 Bribie Island Road, Sandstone Point

None of these events take your fancy? Why not plan something of your own!

For my group of friends who all have kids, we are putting together an Easter Bunny Picnic. Similar to a Teddy Bear Picnic, all the kids will bring along a bunny, and we will have our own easter egg hunt and bring along a plate each to share.

What family friendly activity do you have planned for Easter? Please comment below! We would love to hear from you.
