Farmhouse Cafe - Kedron

by Sally Foster (follow)
Rustic decor with sublime food

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Not just because that is what the experts tell us. Also because it is a very family friendly time to go out for a meal without having to worry overly about table manners (toddler), excessive noise (baby) or unhealthy meal options (husband). In fact, breakfast is really the only time my family eats out together.

Because of this, when we do summon up the courage to head out in public for a family meal, I like it to be someplace welcoming and warm and with sensational meal options so I don't feel like I am missing out. The Farmhouse Cafe at Kedron certainly ticks all those boxes.

This beautifully designed and decorated cafe, pays a tribute to family farms and fresh food producers. The staff will greet you with a very warm smile and joke around playfully with their younger guests, making Mum and Dad feel at ease. It is rustic in the best possible way and absolutely Instagram worthy.

Their menu options change seasonally, as is fitting a cafe that supports and promotes local farmers, and the menu options are delicious, including the kids menu. When we visited the kids menu included poached eggs, pancakes, avocado soldiers, toasties and toast.

The adults menu is something else though. The One Pan Ricotta Pancake that my husband had was out of this world and my breakfast bruschetta on charcoal chiabata was awesome too! They also do some of the best coffee around and a huge variety of drinks.

If you are just stopping in for a takeaway, the cabinet is loaded up with incredible looking pastries and sweets, and there is also a sister store right next store selling Gelato called Miss Sophia's Gelato for those hot days.

There are toilets and high chairs on site for the little ones and staff will go above and beyond to help you. There is plenty of space for prams although it does get very busy during peak times, so I recommend getting there early on weekends to avoid the rush.

While there is no designated kids play area on site, it is located close by to the Kedron Brook which is perfect for a family bike ride and there are lots of parks the whole way along.

Location: 9 Somerset Road, Kedron
Parking: Limited on site parking and plenty of street parking in surrounding streets
Opening Hours: Open 7 days 6:30am - 2:30pm
Contact: 3861 1956
