Fellmonger Park, Ormiston

by Sophie Cannon (follow)
Located in the the leafy suburb of Ormiston, Fellmonger Park is the perfect place to take a leisurely family stroll on a weekend afternoon. The location itself is beautiful to look at, with lots of picturesque scenery running along the banks of Hilliard's Creek, but aside from that, there are many more reasons why all members of the family will enjoy this one.

There are a number of long smooth pathways that wind themselves throughout the park, which make bike and scooter rides for little ones a must, why not even let them choose which path to take?

If little legs are tired after their bike ride, the park is full of large grassy areas, perfect to enjoy a picnic and some family ball games, or there are a few seating areas dotted along the pathways.

Hilliards Creek

Fellmonger Park is not only home to lush vegetation and lovely views, there are various other inhabitants, including a large team of friendly ducks that reside on the banks of the creek, and if you keep an eye out you're sure to see various other water creatures along the way.

Apex Park

Further along the walking track is another huge selling point of Fellmonger - Apex Park children's playground. Although it's not the largest play area, it's still got some great equipment on offer including slides, swings, flying fox, large spider web climbing area, small cubby house, flying handles and an awesome BMX riding track.

Bicycle Skills Track

All of the play equipment is built upon sand, however is not shaded so best to bring along sunscreen on sunnier days, although the surrounding trees will give slight reprieve. Apex park is where you will also find the toilets and a few shaded picnic tables.

Flying Handles

I wouldn't necessarily suggest Fellmonger Park as an all day activity (although you could definitely make it work), but if you're looking for a fun half day outing, then this should definitely be on your list.

What's there?
Children's playground suitable for various ages
On site toilets
Two car parks located at Apex Park and the Softball Club
Adult fitness equipment
Smooth concrete pathways
Sheltered picnic tables
Large grassy picnic areas
Dog park (end of Sturgeon St)
Ducks and other water creatures
Lots of shaded areas

Where? Fellmonger Park, 101-131 Sturgeon Street, Ormiston 4160
