Free Halloween Activities at Brookside Shopping Centre

The spooky, kooky fun of Halloween is coming to Brookside Shopping Centre on 31 October 2024 with free activities, workshops, and competitions for kids to enjoy.



Halloween is based on Celtic traditions where vigils were held for the souls that hadn’t yet gone to heaven and were trapped in purgatory. This made it a night to pray for the dead. Today, it is a time to dress in scary costumes, and drop by to friends and neighbours and "Trick or Treat" where sweets and candies are handed out to the visiting monsters.

Brookside Shopping Centre in Mitchelton is joining in the Halloween tradition and opening up FREE Halloween activities to little shoppers. Here's what you can expect:



Trick or Treat from 4 pm to 6 pm. Pick up a trick or treat map from the Centres' Customer Service desk on the day to help you find the hidden treats.

Face painting 4 pm to 7 pm Children 14 years and under are invited to transform and put on a frightening face. You can find the face painter outside the Target store.

Crossword hunt 4 pm - 7 pm - Check the LED screens and find the clues to help finish the crossword on the Trick or Treat map with the chance to win a Playstation 5 or a Street Science hamper valued at $150.

Slime making drop-in lab from 5:30 to 7 pm. The slippery, slimey goop will be spilling off the craft table for you to take home your own Halloween-themed crat item. The Lab will be set up in front of Big W Big W .

These activities provide an indoor place where children can be with other kids and be involved in Halloween without knocking on neighbourhood doors.

Bookings are not required for any of these activities. Simply turn up and be ready to join in. You can pick up your free map from the Centres' Customer Service Desk.

What Else
Of course, little monsters, ghosts and ghouls are welcome to dress up in their favourite scary outfits. Brookside Shopping Centre is located at Osbourne Road, Mitchelton 7 kilometres from the Central Business District.
