Try a new activity at the free "Have a Go Sport" initiative and facilities at Southbank Parklands, during the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.
In 2024, the Summer Olympics and Paralympics are being held in Paris, France attracting some of the world's best athletes across 32 sports to compete at the highest level and aim to win a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal for their countries in 329 events.
It's difficult to watch the Olympic Competitions and not be inspired by the skill and expertise of the athletes. Now you can try some of the Olympic sports for yourself from 23 July to 9 September 2024 at the Southbank official Olympic live site with sports equipment and facilities available for everyone to try.
With a focus on participation and having fun, the FREE Have a Go Sport initiative means that you simply turn up to Southbank, pick up a racket or ball and start a competition of your own. Some of the sports on offer include badminton, soccer, table tennis, and beach volleyball. No prior skill is required, just the desire to have a go. No judgement!
With the sports facilities scattered around the Cultural Forecourt, it is just a matter of finding the sport you want to try and getting going.
All the while in the background, the highlights from the Olympic and Paralympic competitions in Paris are playing on the big screen.
What Else?
The Have a Go Sport facilities are at South Bank Cultural Forecourt, (in front of QPAC and near the Brisbane sign), Melbourne Street, South Brisbane. Access to Southbank is available by all modes of transport with train, bus and ferry stations located at Southbank. The Olympics outdoor site is an initiative of the Queensland Government.
