How To Find Brisbane's Best Christmas Lights

by Sally Foster (follow)
How to hunt down the best lights

One of the best things about the festive period is seeing all of the Christmas lights pop up around our neighbourhood and this year has been no exception.

But outside of your own neighbourhood, how do you find the best Christmas lights around?

Do you want to learn how to knit? Or have recently started and would like to meet some new friends to share your creativity with, all while having a good chat? The Brisbane Knitting Club has classes for you!

Do a Bus Tour

If you want an alternative to driving around the streets with your GPS, or if you just don't know where to start, then you can let somebody else do the hard work for you on a Christmas Lights Bus Tour. You can sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!

There are a number of Brisbane bus tours to choose from, the main one being hosted by 4KQ and provided by Brisbane City Council. We have put together all the basic information you will need to take part.

4KQ Christmas Lights Tour

The Brisbane Crochet Club meets weekly to learn crochet, meet other Brisbane mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!
You and your family are invited to a Photography for Parents Workshop on Sunday 28th April at New Farm Park.
All of the Brisbane City Council Tours last for roughly around 3 hours and run from Monday 17th December to Friday 21st December, departing at 6.45pm from the following locations:

City (Ann Street, Anzac Square Stop 7) to northern suburbs
Carindale Shopping Centre (Stop H) to eastern suburbs
Garden City Shopping Centre (Stop J & K) to southern suburbs
Indooroopilly Shopping Centre (Stop C) to western suburbs
Chermside Shopping Centre (Stop D) to northern suburbs

Ticket Costs:
Adult ticket cost: $22
Pensioners, Full Time Students and Child ticket cost: $11
Family Pass: $50 for 2 adults and 2 children

Tickets are available from Ticketek and must be purchased in advance. Toilet and refreshment stops will be available. Christmas Carol singing in mandatory for all attendees.

Do It Yourself

For some, the idea of the bus tour isn't ideal, and they would prefer to navigate themselves. So below you will find some helpful websites to help you pick out the best houses to visit:

Head over to the Families Magazine Website to view their list of some of the best Brisbane houses to check out, and where they are located.

Christmas Light Search is an awesome search engine website that allows you to search by suburb or postcode and it will show you where all of the best Christmas lights are within that local area.

Head into the City

Brisbane City and surrounds have some beautiful lights and events happening over the Christmas period. Here are some really special ones to check out:

The Enchanted Garden at Roma Street Parklands is one of Brisbane’s largest lighting displays

Lord Mayor's Christmas Tree in King George Square is a giant Christmas tree in the heart of the city

The Tree is complimented by the beautiful Gold Lotto Hall City Lights

The lights of St Stephen's Cathedral is an animation and projection on the cathedral.

Do you know of anywhere else that has amazing Christmas lights that have to be seen to be believed? Please let us know in the comments below!
