The best workout for new Mums

Getting back into exercise after having a baby can be a daunting prospect. With the massive changes your body goes through, coupled with sleep deprivation, exercise may be the furtherest thing from your mind.

But once you are ready to dip your toes into the fitness pond, Kanga Training is an amazing place to start. With classes happening right across Brisbane, it is exercise where you get to wear your baby. Perfect for those of us who have little ones who just wanted to be cuddled all the time.

Kanga Training is a complete workout, focussing on cardio, flexibility and strength. The trainer will also focus on your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles as well as correct posture, because as said above, your body goes through massive changes through pregnancy and childbirth.

The instructors are fully trained in babywearing and will assist you with wearing your baby in the safe and correct manner. This is a lifesaver for someone like me who suffers from a bad back from breastfeeding. I was quite nervous about how I would manage, but the instructor was so patient with me and made me feel very safe and like my baby was not going to fall out!

The best parts of Kanga Training, as well as the fitness benefits, is the opportunity to socialise and meet other Mums. The group of Mums that I did it with were fun and lively and we often went out after class for a coffee. It is a great chance to meet other Mums in your local area with babies around the same age.

If you think you are ready for some post baby fitness, you will need the all clear from your doctor before starting. The instructors will also take you through a bit of a questionnaire to help ensure you are ready.
