I have four strict criteria when describing a playground as not just good, but GREAT. These are:
Is it fenced?
Is there all ages equipment?
Is there a sensory experience as well?
Are there facilities to make it a meeting spot for friends and family too?
Livvi's Place Playground, or Newport Waterside Park, as I put in my Google Maps, ticks every one of these boxes and more. I have been to a LOT of playgrounds in my last few years. This one could quite possibly top them all. Just throwing it out there.
Located in Newport, which is Brisbane's northside bayside suburbs close by to Scarborough and Clontarf, this playground is tucked beside a man made lake in a new housing development with beautiful views.
It is completely fenced, a great size (not too small but not so big that you can't keep an eagle eye on an adventurous toddler), I spent about three hours there with my toddler last week and neither of us got bored.
Not to be confused with the other fantastic fully fenced playground at Newport that is attached to Izba Espresso, this brand new playground has a huge rocket ship (or spaceship depending on who you ask) with a massive ramp and rope ladders that lead to not one, not two or three but four tunnel slides of varying sizes. They are great for different aged kids, and even made me, a 32 year old woman squeal a little.
Other all ages equipment includes:
giant climbing spider webs
round a bout
With a sand and squishy bottom, the playground is mostly shaded by sails, and like I mentioned, fully fenced. There is also shaded picnic benches and barbecues inside the gate, so you can easily have a picnic or bbq there.
Just outside the playground is a big grassy area, toilets and more benches for a gathering. There is also a water play area with fountains spurting water that is perfect for a hot day.
A picture says a thousand words so here are my favourite pictures I took on my visit.
Definetly one to add to the list, you can pick your coffee up from Izba on the way and be sure to bring along your togs and towels for the water play area.
Location: 39 Lakeview Promenade, Newport
Parking: Street parking and a small parking space area directly outside the gates
