Paddington is one of Brisbane's most sought after suburbs, and a hot spot for brunch. It is also very trendy, so when I rocked up on a Sunday morning for breakfast with my toddler, new baby and husband in tow, I felt a little like I did not belong. But apart from the awesome cafes, there is still plenty of family friendly places to go in this leafy suburb. Including Neal Macrossan Playground. Which is where we felt right at home.
Tucked away opposite Suncorp Stadium, it is commonly referred to as the helicopter playground. There are two sections, each suitable for different aged children. It is a great place to go either before or after attending something happening at Suncorp Stadium if you bringing along your kids. We all know how important it is for a kid to burn energy before being told to sit down for any length of time!
Neal Macrossan Playground has been around since 1918 and is even heritage listed, so you know it is something special. It is bounded by Caxton Street to the south, Hale and Chrystal Streets to the east, Moreton Street to the west and the home of beautiful shaded fig trees.

The playground is close by to a tennis court that is free for the public to use, skate ramp and swimming pool (Ithaca Pool), and boasts plenty of all ages equipment.
The top section of the playground has great things for older kids to play on including:
Wooden climbing gym
The lower section is perfect for younger Brisbane kids and has play equipment including:
Slides including side by side slides so you can race
Helicopter for imagination play
Boat for imagination play.
It is a lovely little park that is close to the action but also a good spot for a family morning or afternoon out. Be sure to check it out next time you are in the area.
