Books are extraordinary. They can offer an intriguing, magical and exciting world where readers can meet new fictional friends, dream with imaginary characters, and follow along as memorable stories unfold.



For children and young readers in particular, part of the wonder of the story is the accompanying beauty of original artwork, imagery and design. The crispness and fresh smell of turning the page of a new book, the anticipation of what to see and find, and the possibilities of a book are life-changing.

As an avid reader, I am always on the lookout for bookstores offering boutique titles and of course a collection of the classics. So when a friend told me about a children's book store in The Grange in Brisbane called the Quick Brown Fox, I just had to stop by and browse the shelves to experience it for myself.

Quick Brown Fox is a boutique, independent bookstore specialising in children's titles for babies and toddlers, with picture books as well as young fiction. There is also a selected range of adult fiction books so the grown-ups aren't left out.

Quick Brown Fox Bookshop is a family-owned business run by sisters-in-law Anna and Theresa Sheen and Anthony Sheen the supportive and creative husband and brother. The shop's name was inspired by the well-known Frank Devine book of the same title.

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about books and offered helpful suggestions to meet my interests and provided the chance to order a book that I was looking for if it wasn't currently on the shelves.



The shop is cosy and single level nestled near the end of a small group of shops off Days Road. It feels like every item in the shop has been exquisitely selected among a busy market of releases.

Quick Brown Fox is more than books on the shelf and also offers a range of activities for kids and adults to build interaction and community such as:

The Quick Brown Fox Bookstore is located at 5/33 Carberry St, Grange QLD 4051. The store is situated directly opposite Wilston State School which is helpful for young learners. Free street parking is available.
