Ready Steady Go Kids

by Sophie Cannon (follow)
Ready Steady Go Kids is a multi sports programme for children aged between 1.5 - 6 years, specifically designed to provide kids with a combination of both physical and emotional benefits.

As well as enhancing children's gross and fine motor skills, and helping its members to develop greater self confidence, Ready Steady Go Kids have also incorporated basic counting and colour concepts within their program, which aims to prepare younger children for their early school years.

Sports
Children can enjoy building a broad range of skills across 10 different sports (soccer, tennis, basketball, hockey, golf, AFL, rugby, athletics, cricket and T-ball), which are rotated ever 2 weeks, helping to ensure that children do not become disinterested with a particular activity.

Classes
Classes are spilt into four different age ranges, the 'Get Ready Group' (1.5 - 2.5 years), the 'Ready Group' (2.5 - 3 years), the 'Steady Group' (3 - 4 years) and the 'Go Group' (4 - 6 years).

In order to make things more manageable for little attention spans, classes for the youngest 'Get Ready' group will last for 30 minutes, whereas all other classes will be 45 minutes long. The awesome thing about the Ready Steady Go Kids program is that it takes place indoors- so kids can stay active and involved no matter what the weather!

To ensure that every participant receives a high level of attention and support, the company maintain a low instructor to student ratio.

Instructors have (as a minimum) a Level 1 Coaching qualification under the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme from the Australian Sports Commission, a current working with children check and extensive experience in teaching preschool-aged children.

Locations
As well as the program being run at over 200 locations across the country, there are currently 6 participating centres within Brisbane:

NAB Stadium, Auchenflower
Queensland Tennis Centre, Tennyson
Clem Jones Centre, Carina
Pine Rivers Citizens Youth Club (PCYC), Les Hughes Sports Complex, Bray Park
Balmoral State High School Hall, Morningside
Camira Springfield Community Centre Springfield
