Now that the winter school holidays are upon us, those two inevitable words are likely to sound throughout from little voices in the house - 'I'm Bored.' Here is a selection of Brisbane boredom-busting activities to enjoy with the kids this school holidays.
State Library of Queensland activities
Brisbane's premier library will offer free children's activities for little minds. Kids can transform into an animal (like birds, bats and butterflies) by wearing handcrafted costumes and sharing stories with Nylon Zoo. They can experiment with line and shape in The Corner or tell their story through portrait play in Kuril Dhagun.
For something extra special, the library will open after dark on Saturday 29 June for a special nocturnal program with illuminated inflatable animals, games, light projection, music and more. Perhaps bring a picnic rug to enjoy the sunset from Maiwar Green or pick up some delicious wood-fired pizza available from 4 pm.
Activities are free but bookings are required on the State Library website. The
State Library of Queensland is located at Stanley Place, South Brisbane.
While you are there be sure to check out the free, permanent sculptures across the precinct including The World Turns, 5 metre elephant.

What's on at the Movies
We can always rely on new movie releases to hit the cinemas right in time for the holidays. Grab the popcorn, visit the Candy bar and select one or more of the following films:
If, the world of imaginary friends.
Despicable Me 4 and the adventures of the Anti-Villain League,
Inside Out 2 where Riley grows up and comes to terms with meeting a whole new range of emotions like anxiety, nostalgia and embarrassment;
The Garfield Movie the lovable, ginger indoor cat;
King Fu Panda 4 where karate meets characters.
Check your local cinema guide for screening times.
So, if you hear the words, 'I'm bored,' perhaps consider one or more of these activities to fill the school holiday hours.
