Shop Local in Brisbane this Christmas

by Sally Foster (follow)
Shopping local means you get the personal touch

As much as we all love our precious Kmart, who doesn’t enjoy giving a present at Christmas that is a little unique, and supports a local business at the same time?

From scrumptious treats, to quirky homewares and toys, the below shops are certainly worth a visit.

Do you want to learn how to knit? Or have recently started and would like to meet some new friends to share your creativity with, all while having a good chat? The Brisbane Knitting Club has classes starting in January 2019.
With newly renovated indoor and outdoor environments, Guardian Early Learning Taringa invites you to come and tour their new centre, located at 32 Morrow Street, Taringa, Qld, 4068.
All shops listed have online shopping too, because let's face it, it is a busy time of year! The $9.95 postage can sometimes be worth not enduring another screaming car trip.

Here are five places I recommend:

1. Riverbend Books

As well as offering coffee and wine (which is enough to get me through any door), this delightful store has plentiful books, gift vouchers ranging from $10 to $250, and a ‘Book of the Month’ where staff can help you tailor a personalised subscription for your recipient.

Book of the month can be paid up front or monthly and can be for either an adult or a child. Riverbend Books can be reached by CityCat as well, so you can really make an adventure out of it.

Two words. Luxury Brownie. Dello Mano is an artisanal bakery offering Christmas gift boxes of their handmade luxury Belgian chocolate brownies. They also do mince pies, cakes, gingerbread, truffles, chocolates, biscuits, and hampers with bubbly. Perfect for that sweet tooth in your life!

Best part is, you have to taste test before picking your treat (just to be sure it’s as delicious as it looks!).

3. Mama’s House

This treasure of a store in Windsor stocks a gorgeous range of girls, boys and ladies fashion, toys and gifts for the little ones, and linen, home wares and accessories for the bigger ones.

They also offer free gift wrapping so you can trick your friends into thinking you are a gift wrapping extraordinaire.

Its that perfect shop where you will find something you didn’t know you absolutely had to have, like tassle earrings, a hot pink cosmetic bag, or a cute bunny pillow.
