My favourite toddler friendly park

I used to give my friends recommendations on the coolest bars and clubs I have visited. Now I am all about the parks. It comes with the territory of being a mum. It pays to have a number of awesome parks in your repertoire that you can pull out of your hat to keep the kids happy and show off to your friends.

The park that I would classify as my old faithful is TC Beirne Park in Hendra. For me it ticks all the boxes on what sets apart a good park from a great park.

Located on Gerler Road, there is plenty of street parking on Goodwood Street or Burilda Street. The park is now fully fenced (a recent edition in 2021), with the main entrance through the gates on Burilda Street.

There are wide open green spaces to kick a ball and fly a kite, but also lots of shade courtesy of the gorgeous jacaranda trees that burst into purple flowers in Spring. The trees are so big, that there is plenty of shade underneath to lie down picnic rugs so you can have a park meet up there.

The actual playground is fantastic for both the younger babies, toddlers and older kids. There is a big fort, swings, a variety of spinny things and some imaginative play structures like old fashioned car and aeroplane.

A picture says a thousand words, so I have included some photos below of the fantastic equipment available. The playground is very shady and there are benches around to sit on while your children play.

There are a few shelter sheds and bbq facilities available, as well as exercise equipment and toilets. It is quite a popular spot to meet your personal trainer if you are looking for somewhere new to work out.

For the parents, there are a few truly fantastic coffee shops within walking distance. The recently opened [Link https://www.dandeliondriftwood.com/ Dandelion and Driftwood] serves great coffee and some yummy takeaway goodies that you can take to the park.

I have been to about a hundred first birthday parties at TC Beirne. It is also where I held my sons first birthday, so I can personally vouch that children from the ages of one through to seven had a great time. There are plenty of spots to set up a party depending on how many guests you have coming.

One negative of this park, is that the mozzies can bite, so definitely bring along the repellent!

Location: Gerler Road, Hendra

Facilities: Playground, shelter sheds, electric bbqs, toilets, exercise equipment
