It’s no secret that mums who have spent a long time at home looking after their children can find returning to work a daunting prospect. They might feel out-of-touch, or that 'things have changed' since they were last employed. For some women, it can be up to 15 years since they last worked.
Better Together runs the Better Outcomes Program - which is a government-funded program that helps parents to gain a nationally-recognised qualification, update their resume, learn about current recruitment processes and expectations, and give them the confidence to get back into the workplace. There is no cost to participants to attend the course. Course location: King Street in Caboolture.
Next course starts Monday, 27th July - Gain a Certificate II in Retail and Cafe Operations! Read more here.
Better Together have the skills and knowledge needed to help mums to retrain, believe in themselves and get back out there.
They support mums attending the course by being flexible (as they know they have family commitments) and by connecting them with parent-friendly employers once they have completed the 12-week course.
Even once you are employed, Better Together will support you through the entire process and for one year afterward.
Along with parents looking to return to the workforce, Better Together can also offer support to:
People who would like to work in retail or hospitality but have no experience
School-leavers struggling to secure work
People with a disability and want part-time work
Employees who have had their hours reduced due to COVID-19.
If you are hoping to get back into the workforce, this could be the opportunity for you. The next course starts on Monday 27 July, so get in quick if you’d like to take part. Enrolments close on Friday 14 August. You can email firstname.lastname@example.org or read more here.
