Valentine's Day in Brisbane 2019

by Sally Foster (follow)
Enjoy some romance in Brisbane

Valentines Day is fast approaching. Instead of looking at it like a day where you are obligated to give and receive gifts, why not just look at it at a great opportunity to spend some quality time with the person you love. After all, as Mums, we can get consumed by our kids, so it is nice to take a step back and enjoy a bit of romance.

With that in mind, here are some ideas of how you can celebrate Valentine's Day in Brisbane this year. Valentine's Day may fall on a weekday, but if you can handle the anticipation, these activities would be perfect for the weekend.

The Brisbane Crochet Club meets weekly to learn crochet, meet other Brisbane mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!
You and your family are invited to a Photography for Parents Workshop on Sunday 28th April at New Farm Park.
Breakfast or Brunch

It can sometimes be hard to get away for dinner, but there is no reason why breakfast or brunch can't be intimate and special. After all, it's the company you keep anyway! Here are some lovely spots in Brisbane with a nice atmosphere and even lovelier food.

1. The Hamptons - Hendra

The Hamptons has incredible food and after breakfast, you can pick up a takeaway coffee and take a stroll through the beautiful streets of Hendra and Ascot filled with incredible houses.

Do you want to learn how to knit? Or have recently started and would like to meet some new friends to share your creativity with, all while having a good chat? The Brisbane Knitting Club has classes for you!
2. Nodo - Newstead

Come for the donuts. Stay for the donuts. Get the donuts to take away. Nothing says love like splitting a sugar filled treat. After a delicious and adventurous brunch.

3. The Jam Pantry - Greenslopes

With local farm fresh ingredients, The Jam Pantry serves up food that is pretty as a picture and its light filled surroundings will uplift you on your date day.

Winery

Enjoy a country day out with a drive to the beautiful Sirromet Winery, located in Mount Cotton, it's surroundings are only outshone by the beautiful food and impeccable wines.

Cooking Class

Romance can bloom when you learn something new together and with cooking being so tactile, you can have a true lady and the tramp moment after enjoying a cooking class. Brisbane has lots to choose from, some of the best coming from James Street, the gourmet food capital of this city. Why not try James Street Cooking School to learn the art of Mediterranean or middle eastern cooking.

Exercise Class

In the words of Cher from Clueless, exercise gives you endorphins and endorphins make you happy. Happy is the perfect mood to spend Valentine's Day in, and doing something that is good for both your mind and body as a couple, is exactly what some couples need.

Brisbane City Council offers free or low cost fitness classes every day of the week in parks across the city. Check them out here.

Hot Air Balloon Ride

Hot air balooning is something that I have always wanted to do. It may be a little reminisent of 'The Bachelor' i.e. slightly cheesy, but hey, gorgeous views and sipping champagne IS pretty romantic! There are lots of companies in Brisbane that do them. Hot Air is rumoured to be one of the best.

If none of these daytime activities take your fancy, and you are after just a romantic dinner on February 14th, check out our list of Date Night Restaurants in Brisbane.
