Water views while the kids play
Lets face it, sometimes going to the playground can be a little on the dull side. Don't get me wrong, I love how much fun my son has. But when it's something you do almost on a daily basis, it can get a tad monotonous.
So with that in mind, I am always on the lookout for playgrounds that have a little something for me as well. On a drive last weekend around Bulimba, I stumbled across a lovely riverside park tucked into a quiet side street. Now at least I could enjoy some gorgeous water views while my kid plays.
A short drive from the trendy Oxford Street in Bulimba, Vic Lucas Park is a great place for a picnic or just a play. You can pick up a coffee and some delicious treats at Oxford Street, then make camp under one of the shelter sheds with bbq, or spread a picnic rug under one of the many shaded trees.
The play structures are simple yet well maintained and there is plenty to keep the little ones entertained. With a pirate theme, the fort is perfect for playing a pretend game of Peter Pan. There are swings, slides and some spinny things, as well as a half basketball court for the older kids.
It would be a perfect place to meet a mothers group, as even on a Saturday, it was very peaceful and quiet and and there is easy parking. You can keep one eye on the babies and another eye on the boats and yachts sailing passed on the picturesque river.
Location:152 Coutts Street, Bulimba
Amenities: Toilets, BBQ, shelter sheds, playground and designated parking
