Ways to Celebrate National Grandparents Day

by Sally Foster (follow)
Sunday October 27th is National Grandparents Day

I am lucky enough that my children have two sets of amazing Grandparents that do so much for us. I am always appreciative, but I only just found out that Australia actually has a whole day dedicated to Grandparents called National Grandparents Day.

It is on this Sunday, October 27th. Here are some ways you can celebrate and thank that very special person in your children's lives.

A cat in a red-striped hat…a talking fish…Thing One…Thing Two…and a bored brother and sister…you know the story, now see the stage show adaptation: Cat In The Hat Live
Do you want to learn how to knit? Or have recently started and would like to meet some new friends to share your creativity with, all while having a good chat? The Brisbane Knitting Club has classes for you!
Ferny Hills Picnic in the Park

Head to Ferny Hills for their Grandparents Picnic in the Park at George Willmore Park. There will be food, live music, kids rides and activities, and children can make a a special present for their Grandparents with free arts and crafts. It is a free event.

Date: Sunday October 27th from 9am to 12pm

Day Spa

The Brisbane Crochet Club meets weekly to learn crochet, meet other Brisbane mums, and have a good chat. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone is welcome to come along!

Give Granny or Nanna a luxurious spa day to truly unwind. Here are some that have been recommended by the Mums of the group:

Viroga in Brighton
One Wybellena in Brookfield
Harbour Day Spa in Cleveland
Aquarius Health Spa in Brisbane City
Stephanie's Mountain Spa in Clear Mountain
Endota Spa in various locations throughout Brisbane.

Giant Games and Activities

Perth Street Park in Camp Hill are hosting Giant Games and Activities as part of their Active Gold Program for over 50's. You can enjoy games that are played over the world.

Date: Sunday 27th October from 10am to 12pm.

Fishing

If Grandad, Grandpa, Pop or Nan love to fish, then a morning outside in the great outdoor fishing is a wonderful way to celebrate them. Grab your tackle box, pack a picnic and head to one of these popular fishing spots:

Beachmere Lake
Bribie Island
Caboolture River Mouth
The Endeavour Esplanade in Deception Bay
Scarborough foreshore
Redcliffe Jetty
Woody Point
Hays Inlet Mouth
Brighton Park
Decker Park in Brighton
Shorncliffe
Cabbage Tree Creek
Nudgee Beach.

Markets

Brisbane has so many amazing outdoor markets and Sundays are a very popular day for hitting the streets and the stalls. Here is a list of some of the best markets in Brisbane.
