Cinderella is making a comeback in Ballet of Lights, a fresh take on the old ballet at QUT Gardens Theatre on the Queensland University of Technology campus, 2 George Street in Brisbane City on May 23, 2026. Dancers decked out in glowing costumes whirl around the stage, jazzing up the fairytale with lights and colour. Expect the stepsisters' comical villainy, the royal ball's over-the-top glamour, and that classic prince-Cinderella spark, all told through nimble footwork rather than words.

Four performers handle the whole tale backed by tunes from top classical composers, blending old-school dance with a cheeky modern edge. It lasts about 60 minutes with no interval or late entry, doors opening 30 minutes beforehand. Fine for kids 5 and up, though those under 16 need an adult chaperone. The venue works for wheelchairs, but seats go first-come first-served within zones, so turning up early avoids the scramble.
