Theres a happening on February 8, 2026, to mark the launch of Casa Mia by Josie Montano, with illustrations by Kristen Willis and published by IP Interactive Publications. Its one of those family-friendly book events where you can settle in for some lunch and stories that probably smell faintly of Italian sunshine.

The special guest is award-winning childrens illustrator Lucia Mascuillo, who hails from Livorno in Italy but swapped pasta for beaches when she moved to Australia in 2007 and now calls the Gold Coast home. It all goes down at the Brisbane Abruzzo Association on 150 Fursden Rd in Carina, Brisbane, which is basically a hop from the city if youre driving.
