If your child is struggling to read, you are not alone. Research shows that reading is a skill best learned through explicit teaching that is informed by how the brain learns to read. For some children, this can require specialist support and expertise. With over 25 years’ experience researching literacy, developing programs and working successfully with thousands of children, MultiLit is your local literacy expert.

If you are concerned about your child’s progress in reading, and want to help them thrive at school, MultiLit Literacy Centres offer personalised, one-to-one tuition based on the latest research. All of our programs are evidence-based and proven to be effective.

Your local Literacy Centre
In September 2022, MultiLit was delighted to open the Fortitude Valley Literacy Centre to help the growing number of Queensland families and students seeking evidence-based literacy programs. Located on Gregory Terrace and close to public transport, it is a bright and inviting space, featuring murals and artwork showcasing illustrations from MultiLit publications.

“We are hoping to create an atmosphere that inspires a love of literacy and a culture that feels warm and supportive for both families and our team,” says Fortitude Valley Literacy Centre Manager, Vikki Eschler.

Personalised tuition
Our literacy programs are delivered by MultiLit’s positive, encouraging and highly trained tutors, either in-centre at the Fortitude Valley Literacy Centre, or online via one-to-one videoconferencing depending on which you prefer. Lessons last for 50 minutes, and there are regular assessments to check on each students’ progress.

Flexibility for your family
We offer both term-time and holiday programs, allowing you to choose an option that suits your schedules and commitments.

  • Term-time programs are conducted over a 10-week period during public school terms, with a minimum of two terms recommended. Based on the assessment of each student’s needs, tutoring sessions are held at least twice a week and up to five times per week, if required.

  • Holiday programs offer a convenient and intensive option which is great for busy families that struggle to attend weekly sessions throughout the school term. Holiday sessions take place daily over two weeks, either in-centre or online (excluding public holidays).

  • Literacy support that works
Ensuring our programs work and deliver results underpins everything we do. Our Literacy Centres track the progress of all our students to ensure they meet their literacy goals. Typically, we expect a substantial improvement in reading after attending MultiLit Literacy Centres for just two terms. On average, over six months, students make gains of:
  • 13 months in word reading
  • 13 months in spelling
  • 18 months in decoding
  • 13 months in passage reading accuracy
  • 11 months in passage reading comprehension

    What parents say
We love hearing from parents about the impact of our programs. Here is what one parent shared with us.

“After being told my son ‘wouldn’t survive’ his next year at school at his current literacy level, I enrolled Aidan with MultiLit. The results were almost immediate. His confidence grew quickly and it was wonderful to see the regular assessments showing sustained improvement. What I love about MultiLit’s approach is that it’s all evidence-based and specifically designed by experts who are engaged in the science of learning. This, coupled with wonderful, knowledgeable and positive tutors, who encouraged and supported Aidan throughout, was key in helping him achieve his reading goals.”
