Beautiful rescued deers and the chance to interact

I had not even heard of the [Link https://www.lyelldeersanctuary.com.au/ ] until very recently, despite having grown up in Brisbane my whole life. Until a friend took her two young children there and had such a lovely time she had to share.

Located in Mount Samson which is about 30 minutes north of Brisbane, The is home to a small crew of rescued deers. It is a unique place that offers education, serenity and a chance to get up close with these beautiful animals.





The sanctuary have been rescuing deers for over thirty years. You can sit with, cuddle and hand feed the deers, they are very gentle creatures. It is wonderful for children who love animals, and makes a change from the bigger zoos and sanctuaries. It is a small place but well run by a local family.

Visitors to the sanctuary can bring along a picnic and enjoy the serene surroundings. Food is not sold there, but you can purchase drinks. They are open on weekends to the public, or weekdays if you book ahead with a group, but you would need to contact them directly.

Due to COVID restrictions, there are a limit on the number of people allowed in. You may have to wait outside if they have reached capacity. Contact the sanctuary directly for more information on this. There are lots of local spots to visit close by, including Cedar Creek, if you need to wait.
