The grand lady of boutique shopping in Brisbane, the glorious Brisbane Arcade , will bring some extra sparkle this Christmas with a glittering and classic festive display to remember.

Strolling past the specialty high-end shops of the historic Brisbane Arcade is always memorable. Still, it is even more beautiful at Christmas time when the arcade comes alive with an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind Christmas installation.
A visit to the Central Business District to see the Brisbane Arcades' festive lights and decorations display has become one of my favourite holiday traditions, and this year's display is bigger and brighter than ever.

Now a respectful centenarian (having celebrated its 100th birthday), the arcade is the perfect place to house this type of visual experience. The narrow arcade, which was constructed in 1923 and opened in 1924, is a Brisbane treasure and was awarded heritage status in x to preserve its place in the city's past, present and future.

The high ceilings and leadlighting provide a wondrous backdrop for a glittering display of pristine baubles, golden bows and the breathtaking beauty of lights. A sign at the Queen Street entrance breaks down the numbers of just how big the light installation is and the time and care taken to create a light show of this type. Imagine a century-old arcade brimming with over 100,000 twinkling LED lights, more than 12,000 baubles and 70-plus golden bows, 40 wreaths, lush garlands and lavish Christmas trees, plus a new and spectacular giant 2.4m double wreath.
The cascading lights spill down from the balconies like a waterfall. As you walk your way down the arcade, there are various vignettes to stop of see (and photograph). For example, one Christmas tree is wonderful, but the trio of Christmas trees of varying heights offers triple the space for gifts. In the centre of the arcade is a giant wreath which offers the chance for a selfie or video to commemorate your visit.
While it is beautiful from the ground level, it is worth taking the steps (located at each end of the arcade) to the second gallery and upper loft level to see it from above. Be sure to look down over the historic wooden railings and balustrades and watch the arcade sparkle. For me, part of the joy is watching other people's reactions and smiles when viewing the display.

Shoppers and visitors can experience the colour and light of sparkling lights and decorations of the FREE installation throughout the arcade until 10 January 2026. Of course, the lights and garlands take centre stage, but don't forget to also window browse or shop at the high-end boutiques and long-term arcade tenants, including
Pen Shoppe, [LINK https://darbbridalcouture.com.au/ Darb Bridal Couture ,
Stone Diamonds to name just a few.

Overall, it is classic, elegant, nostalgic and stylish just like the arcade itself. I have been to the installation over the past several years, and in my opinion, the 2025 presentation is by far the best. To say it is breathtaking is an understatement.
If you decide to see it for yourself, the arcade has two entrances: one off the Queens Street Mall and the other in Adelaide Street.
