The environment is nature's best outdoor learning space, and the Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre is combining the environment, fun and education with Christmas activities for inquisitive little minds.



What is the Boondall Environment Centre?
The Boondall Environment Centre, located in the city's north, is in a unique position, being home to Brisbane's largest protected wetlands. It welcomes visitors to experience a place for environmental education, exploration through its interactive activities, trails, and displays.

This month, the centre has a huge calendar of activities and events for the kids with a festive twist. Here's what's on offer:

Bush Kindy Thursday 4 December 2025

Christmas Themed Bush Kindy (Suitable for 3 to 5 years), Thursday 11 December 2025, in the heart of nature.



Discovering mini beasts and their role in the environment from pollination to decomposition 13 December (Suitable for 7 to 12yrs)

Explore the wonderful world of shorebirds with a festive twist (Suitable for 7 to 12yrs), Sunday 14 December 2025

Photographing nature, Tuesday 16 December 2025. Don't forget to bring your own smartphone to capture those special moments. (Suitable for 9 to 17 yrs)

Wild Edibles Walk Thursday 18 December 2025 to discover edible Australian native plants at Boondall Wetlands reserve on a short guided tour along the Tulla-yugaipa dhagun track (place of useful plants) showcasing some of the wild edible plants used by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and colonial peoples, as well as some other surprising uses. (There's some yummy tasting afterwards as well (Suitable for all ages).

12 Days of Christmas with a range of fun, healthy and active Christmas games that are fast, fun and funky! Play limbo, musical statues and some groovy new games so you can show off your moves and have a great laugh too. (Suitable for aged 4 to 17 yrs).

There's something for everyone to get up close with Brisbane's flora and fauna. To join in the activities, you will find the Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre at 31 Paperbark Drive, Boondall (just near the Brisbane Entertainment Centre).
