Brisbane will be bringing light and joy as it celebrates Diwali - India's national Festival of Lights on 24 October 2025.

Diwali is a traditional celebration in the Hindu culture, meaning rowing of lighted lamps. As Diwali marks the Hindu New Year, it can be a time for reflection. It is also a celebration of good over evil, clarity as well as unity, hope and prosperity and importantly, the power of truth and wisdom.

Join in the Diwali activities in Brisbane at a free King George Square event from 11am to 10pm which will feature:

+ traditional Rangoli art displays
+ diya lighting to symbolise the victory of light over darkness. the return of positivity and hope, and a way to invite Goddess Lakshmi into homes for prosperity
+ cultural dances
+ street food stalls
+ a serene celebration of the festival's spiritual essence

The public square is the centrepiece of the Brisbane Central Business District in Ann and Adelaide Streets and home to the stately Brisbane City Hall.

Join in the celebration and bring light into your heart and soul.
