See the lights twinkle and the decorations sparkle at one of Queensland's most stately working residences as Queensland Government House opens its doors and brings the festive cheer with a lights display for everyone.



From Saturday, 13 December 2025 through to 18 December 2025, Government House will welcome the public to view the free lights display. Visitors are also welcome to step inside the grand entry to the house and have a photo alongside the stunningly decorated Christmas Tree.



The display will be open to the public nightly from 6.45pm to 8.15pm in the week leading up to Christmas.

No tickets are required to view this must-see display. Street parking is available on the Paddington streets that surround the estate. While there is no on-site parking, the Government House Security will assist with drop-offs for guests with mobility issues.



About Queensland Government House
Known as "Fernberg", Government House is the working, vice regal residence of the Governor of Queensland, a position currently held by The Honourable Dr Jeannette Young.

Since 1910, the House has hosted royal dignatories (including a stay by Queen Elizabeth 2 , been a part of Queenslands' political history where elected Members of the Government have been sworn in as well as hosting community events, recognising notable persons and organisations for their service and of course held its' open days for the public to see inside its stately rooms.

If you haven't visited Fernberg before, there is no better reason to see a part of Queensland's history in all of its beautiful splendour this Christmas for an evening of lights and festive celebration. Paddington is located 4 kilometres from the Brisbane Central Business District.
