If you've got a beloved stuffed animal who's looking a bit peaky or just needs a check-up from a budding medical professional, the Morningside Veterinary Clinic has something for you. On 2 August 2025, they're holding their Nearly a Vet Convention, where prep and primary school kids can bring their plush patients along to practise their vetting skills. It's a chance to see what real vets actually get up to, albeit with significantly less drooling and far fewer actual bites.

The event will also include Rebecca Johnson, the author who brought us the 'Juliet - Nearly a Vet' books and a winner of the Prime Minister's Prize for teaching primary school science. She'll be on hand to help the future animal healers get stuck into their very own Nearly a Vet Kits right there in a proper vet clinic. And for the grown-ups who are simply providing transport and moral support, entry is free.
