Brisbane will be bursting with children's art and cultural activities including music, storytelling, movement, or hands-on creative play at the 2025 Out of the Box Festival from 17 to 22 June 2025 at the Queensland Cultural Centre.



Aimed at children 8 and under, the Out of the Box Festival offers a mixed bag of theatre experiences, workshops, free events and activities with additional programs across the entire Brisbane cultural precinct at Brisbane's creative hubs - the State Library of Queensland , Queensland Museum and QAGCOMA.



For the past 40 years, the Out of the Box festival has offered an innovative, engaging program for young minds filled with play, learning and entertainment. And 2025 continues to build that legacy. Not only is it fun, but studies have shown that creative play not only nurtures imagination but also significantly contributes to a child’s cognitive, emotional, and social development.

The theme of the 2025 festival is HOPE which will be showcased in the large-scale Tree of Hope art installation across the Cultural Centre. This will provide a centrepiece and backdrop for the music, storytelling, movement, or hands-on creative play of the Festival activities.

As well as fun for kids, the festival will also be hosting the two-day National Early Years Policy Summit at QPAC as Australian and international leaders, thinkers, practitioners, artists, parents, caregivers, Elders, and community leaders gather to discuss childhood in Australia and make big plans for the future of our kids. The Summit will be held from 17 to 18 June 2025 at the Queensland Cultural Centre.
