The Peaks to Points Festival is set to return from Saturday 25 July to Sunday 9 August 2026, bringing more than 70 nature-inspired events to communities across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Redlands and the Scenic Rim.

Celebrating the creek catchments along the southern side of the Brisbane River, the festival invites locals and visitors alike to reconnect with nature, discover their neighbourhoods and get involved in the environmental groups helping to care for the region.

This year's program will feature a wide variety of activities designed to suit all ages and interests, from guided walks and birdwatching to hands-on planting and weeding sessions. Families can enjoy creative and educational experiences such as kids’ nature-themed costume making, while those looking for something more adventurous can join a platypus walk and talk, spotlighting walks or even a tour of the Greenbank Military Area.

With most events free, the festival offers an accessible way for people to spend time outdoors, learn more about local ecosystems and support the work of community organisations making a difference. Festival organiser Lynn Whitfield says the event continues to grow because of the strong support it receives from environmental groups, local councils and sponsors across South East Queensland.

"The ongoing support of so many environmental and community groups and government sponsors and supporters has ensured that the Festival is a fixture in the South East Queensland environmental events calendar," Lynn says.

Festival highlights:
• Spotlighting & night walks: Explore the bush after dark and observe local nocturnal animals, including night walks along trails such as the Spotted Gum Track in Springfield.
• Wildlife watching: Join guided walks for platypus spotting, birdwatching, and koala spotting.
• Conservation & hands-on activities: Take part in community tree plantings, environmental weeding, verge garden workshops, and native plant sales.

For anyone planning to take part, the festival program is available online with new events still being added. You can mix and match events to find what suits your local area best. Please note that some activities require booking, so early planning is recommended.

Originally launched as a single-day Oxley Creek Water Festival, the event expanded in 2007 into the 16-day Peaks to Points Festival, reflecting its broader reach across the southside of the Brisbane River and the growing network of communities committed to caring for the region.

Supported by Brisbane City Council, Ipswich City Council, Logan City Council and the Oxley Creek Catchment Association, the Peaks to Points Festival continues to celebrate the people, places and partnerships that make South East Queensland's natural environment so special.
