Almost as good as going to the beach

It is no secret that Brisbane has been a tad on the warm side lately. Actually, it has been really baking hot. I sadly am not the proud owner of a pool, so when the weather heats up, one of my favourite places to go to cool off is [Link https://www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/general.aspx?id=16353 Settlement Cove Lagoon] in Redcliffe.

Settlement Cove is a gorgeous outdoor lagoon set right next to stunning Moreton Bay. With a big sandy beach, the lagoon gets progressively deeper for the older kids or adults, but is shallow and large enough on the outer edges for the younger kids to have a great time swimming and splashing.

There is also a wading pool for babies and toddlers which features some climbing toadstools and bugs shooting water. The wading pool is fenced off and separated from the larger lagoon.

With such lovely views of the bay, it is possible to set up a picnic blanket for the day and jump in and out of the crystal clear water. You can bring along food to use one of the bbq's, and there are change and toilet facilities on site.

If you are looking for shade, there are plenty of trees and shelter sheds, but do get there early to secure your spot, as it gets pretty crowded on the weekends as you can imagine.

If your kids get tired of swimming, there is also a great playground with plenty of climbing equipment, swings and slides which is right next to the lagoon.

If you aren't in the mood for a BBQ or picnic lunch, head to Redcliffe Parade which is adjacent to the lagoon. There are plenty of great cafes, restaurants and takeaway shops to tempt even the pickiest of eaters.

If you are making a day out of it, you can hop on your bike and go for a ride along the Redcliffe shorefront on the designated bike path. A picturesque ride with access to the jetty, plenty of playgrounds and grassy areas, there is even beach access to [Link https://www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/general.aspx?id=96313 Suttons Beach] where you can swim in the bay.

Location:Redcliffe Parade, Redcliffe

Opening Hours: 24 hours a day year round

Amenities: Qualified lifeguards during summer months, toilets, showers, wheelchair access, shelter sheds, bbqs.

Parking: Parking can get quite crowded. I have found street parking along Redcliffe Parade and parking at Captain Cook Park which is about a 10-15 minute walk away.
