The Australian Ballet continues its season of bringing the timeless tale of The Nutcracker as a Storytime Ballet with performances in Brisbane and Melbourne during January 2026.



Be enchanted by a magical world of character dances. This festive pantomime story tells of a girl named Clara who befriends a nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve and wages a battle against the evil Mouse King.

The Australian Ballet production follows the traditional version created by British choreographer Sir Peter Wright CBE, for The Royal Ballet in London. You can see the Show performed by Australia's premier ballet company (as the season draws to a close) in Brisbane and Melbourne.

The show will be performed at Powerhouse Theatre, The Brisbane Powerhouse in Brisbane, which is located at Lamington Street, New Farm and the 1928 built Comedy Theatre at 240 Exhibition Street, Melbourne.
