If you like Halloween, then the celebrations continue with the Mexican tradition of the Day of the Dead Interactive Expo on November 2, 2025, featuring cultural activities, food, and performances to honour those who have passed.
Día de Muertos (translated as the Day of the Dead) is a Mexican cultural tradition that honours the memory of deceased loved ones with colourful celebrations, food, and festivities. It is a time for families to come together, remember those who have passed, and celebrate their lives in a bright, happy and joyful manner.
Masks and costumes are a central feature in the event. A common symbol of the holiday is the skull (known as the calavera), represented in masks, called calacas (or skeletons), and foods such as chocolate or sugar skulls, which are inscribed with the name of the recipient on the forehead.
Now you can join in the festivities for yourself in Brisbane on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the 1892-built and heritage-listed
Coorparoo School of Arts and Memorial Hall .
Activities include:
