Brisbane's biggest Show, the EKKA, which brings the country to the city, will be taking over the river city from 9 to 17 August 2025 with all the fun of the Fair.
Over nine (9) days, the Brisbane Showgrounds will be alive with noise, laughter and fun as the Royal National Associations Show, commonly known as
the EKKA returns to Brisbane.
The show began and continued its roots as an agricultural community show in 1876, showcasing exhibits. This long run Queensland tradition continues in 2025 with another full calendar of things to do, see and learn.
Be sure to check out:
Competitions (with some international judges) in areas including cake decorating, companion animals and livestock, cookery, and even fish. And don't miss the Australian Whip Cracking Championships as well
Animal displays such as the ever-popular animal nursery, where kids can get an up-close experience with very cute farm animals such as goats (where you can stretch out with goat yoga, yes, really), along with piglets and lambs. The new Cradle-a-Chick Experience will be a huge hit for an extra bit of snuggle time with these feathered beauties
Exhilarating rides, side show alley and fun Showbags to explore
A cracking Fireworks display to light up the night skies
Glorious food including the immortal strawberry ice-cream with fresh berries, a crispy wafer cone and a topping of fresh cream. Enjoy this guilty pleasure knowing that funds raised from the sale of the ice-creams go to fund The Common Good at the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation to help raise vital funds for medical research.
Entertainment featuring army and pipe bands
See behind the scenes of live television broadcasts at the Channel 7 Pavilion and meet some of the on-screen celebrities
As a special transport experience, Queensland Rail will celebrate the 160th anniversary of the iconic steam train, which see it will return for the Ekka public holiday show day on Wednesday, 13 August. It will be the first time since 2019 that the steam train has operated for the Show. Jump aboard the steam train, which will offer 8 steam train trips running from Roma Street to Exhibition Station on the Ekka loop, starting in the morning and finishing early afternoon.
The show offers a range of ticket types, with prices ranging from free to $90.95, which are on sale now! To experience the best of the Ekka, head to the Brisbane Showgrounds at 600 Gregory Terrace, Bowen Hills, this August.
