Take part in bootcamp in the great outdoors

As a new mum, I find it much harder to prioritise my own personal fitness and wellbeing than in my pre baby life. It’s tricky to make time to look after myself while I am so busy caring for my little family.

I want to exercise so that I have the energy to chase after my olympic style crawling baby. But how will I make the time? Who looks after my son while I am out there sweating? How will I even afford it??

I stumbled across [Link https://www.facebook.com/absolutebyamber/ Absolute by Amber] on one of my many walks along the Kedron Brook. I saw a sign for ladies only outdoor group fitness and PT. As it was close to my house and there was plenty of available parking, I thought it couldn't hurt to give it a try.

My first session was a bootcamp style with body and free weight exercises, a little bit of running and some good old fashioned squats, lunges, burpees etc. Amber was very mindful of the fact that I had recently given birth and took the time to show me pelvic floor exercises. She is happy to accommodate a range of fitness types and make sure nobody is left behind.

Amber is a fantastic personal trainer and all round sunny and motivating human being. She is dedicated to helping women get their health and fitness goals back on track while simultaneously kicking their butts and having a laugh.

Based at the North Brisbane Rugby Club on Shaw Road in Wooloowin, Amber runs sessions early and mid morning, as well as evenings, at a range of times to suit all schedules. She has many different pricing options and is very reasonable in what she charges.

The best part about training with Amber is you can bring along your baby/kids with you. She is happy to hold a crying baby so you can bust out some burpies and has a great rapport with kids. At each session there are newborns, crawlers and school aged kids cheering along their mums.

Training is outside, but there is an undercover area for wet weather or plenty of trees for shade on those really hot days. If you do bring along your kids, there is a playground next to where you train. There is also the option to bring a ball to kick around or to park a pram under a tree. Toilets are also available.

No two sessions are the same. Amber mixes up boxing, bootcamp and HIIT sessions so that you never get bored. Amber frequently runs 8 week challenges to really help you transform your mind and body. It’s a great chance to meet other women and build friendships while carving out some serious workout time. Amber will help you with recipes and nutrition and there are sponsors, discounts and prizes to be won.

For those of us who love a new years resolution, there is currently a New You pass for January where you have unlimited sessions for $180. Depending on how many sessions you commit to, this can work out to be $7.50 a session.

Training with Amber meets the needs I have as a busy mum. I can make time as there are so many sessions available. I can bring my son along if need to. And the pricing options are great. Hope to see you all there!
