A list of events being held in Brisbane for Mothers Day 2018

When my partner asks me what I want for Mother's Day, my top three answers are always:

1. Sleep In. Until at least 9am.
2. Break from any housework and cooking
3. Not to be asked any questions about what I want to do for Mother's Day and just have it all organised for me.

But I think that I need to aim higher. Mums have a really hard job, and we deserve to be celebrated and spoiled.

Brisbane has many events this year for Mother's Day. Here is a list of some that sounded amazing to me, I wish I could go to them all.

An evening of creating and learning how to make botanical jewellery, which includes food and a glass of bubbles. You can create either a hairpiece, ring or wrist corsage out of succulents and dried flowers, and they will also show you how to plant the succulents afterwards so it will live longer.

An afternoon High Tea with a twist, the Hendricks High Tea includes cocktails served in fine china and all you can eat cupcakes. That is my kind of high tea!

If you are looking to give back to an amazing cause, as well as enjoy a night out with your girlfriends, then the Mother's Night Soiree at Taylor King Gallery might be just the event for you. The night includes an inspirational MC, comedy, canapes and champagne. And all proceeds go to two charities, Share the Dignity and Suited for Success.

Watt is a restaurant serving up modern Australian cuisine right on the river front. This Mother's Day, they are holding a beautiful three course lunch, serving up specially crafted food inspired by their favourite chef, their Mum.

Courthouse is an elegant restaurant in a heritage-listed property right on the water in Brisbane's bayside. This year they are holding a Mother's Day Garden Soiree in a relaxed twilight setting. There will be music, sunset views across to Stradbroke Island and a light food and drink menu available.

I love yoga, and the idea of being able to spend a day practising yoga and meditation and also be pampered, sounds like absolute bliss to me. The Australian School of Yoga and Meditation is holding a Rest and Relax Mother's Day Pamper Retreat where Mum's are treated to yoga, reflexology hand massage, meditation and an afternoon tea.

If you are the active type and want to do something really special this Mother's Day, then why not take part in the Mother's Day Classic. Walk or Run 4.5km or 8km and raise funds for breast cancer research.

Garden Way offers a variety of plants, pots, gifts and homewares. It is also home to Verdant Café & Restaurant, which offers a relaxed outdoor dining experience. This Mother's Day they are hosting an event with special menus available for breakfast, lunch and afternoon. So you can choose which seating is right for you.

The beautiful Mt Cotton Retreat is hosting a special Mother's Day High Tea with handmade sweet and savoury treats, tea and coffee or if you fancy, some sparkling french cuvee. All set within a tranquil location.

If none of these events take your fancy, or if you are looking for free ideas, why not give these ideas a try:

- Ask for your kids to make you homemade mother's day gifts. Also ask your partner. I would love to see what my husband comes up with!

- Have your family create a pancake making station for the everyone to enjoy. Include different toppings like fruit, cream, sprinkles, nuts and of course, champagne on the side

- Enjoy an at home 'spa'. A two hour retreat at home, complete with face mask, coffee scrub and a massage. And an uninterrupted shower. All set up by someone that is not you

- Send your family to the local park and head to your local shopping centre instead, where you can wander the aisles without children in tow
