Ellis and the Night Orchestra is a fresh chamber opera cooked up for kids from zero to five years old by writer-director Julie Ritchey and composer-performer Tim Munro, with musicians from Southern Cross Soloists lending their talents. Little Ellis is your classic bedtime avoider, convinced every odd noise is a monster or a ghost crashing his room, when it might just be a plane or a squeaky floorboard. By mornings light, hes chatting up those sounds like old pals, waving a baton to lead his Night Orchestra and turning scare-fests into sneaky symphonies.

Its a laid-back blend of live tunes, easygoing stories, and kid-powered make-believe that lets tiny ones poke at noises, feelings, and wild ideas without any fuss. The setups relaxed and sensory-smart, so children can wiggle, chat, or zone out however they fancy, making it a low-stakes sneak peek into theatre for the littlest night owls.
