Toddler-friendly park with access to bushwalking

Before I sign off on a playground being amazing, as opposed to just being great, I ask myself the following questions:

- Is it fenced?
- Can coffee be purchased nearby
- Is there enough equipment that my independent
toddler can play with on his own so I can drink the coffee?

Having undergone a major upgrade in 2015, this playground is themed around 'exploration'. It is a massive and fully fenced children's dream, and with so much equipment to explore, it is the perfect place to go for not just a quick visit, but a half day play.



The playground equipment is modern and well cared for and there is plenty suitable for all age groups. The equipment includes a huge flying fox, climbing nets, spinning wheels and sway boat for the older or brave kids. There is also plenty of swings, slides, see saws and climbing equipment for the toddlers and younger kids.



The best part in my opinion are the different zones set up, like the sand and water play area. Yes it is messy. But how much fun! Little ones love sensory play and this will keep them mesmerised for hours. Just bring along a change of clothes and don't put them in shoes that you are too attached to.

If you have a very active child, there are also paths for riding bikes and scooters, and large grassy areas to kick a ball and play an imagination game.

If you are looking for a place to have a birthday party or family gathering, there are bbq and picnic tables set up inside the fence. They do pack out though so make sure you get in there early. The playground is close to sporting fields as well if you would like more space.



The atmosphere of Whites Hill Reserve is so lovely. There are lots of trees, sheltered tables and grassy areas to spread out on. The play area is also shaded and has soft fall flooring for those inevitable spills. There are also toilets available.

If you are like me and you can't live without your coffee (I mean come on!), the very popular [Link http://bmta.com.au/About-Us/Cafe-Metro Cafe Metro] is right next door, offering snacks, drinks and coffee so you don't have to worry about picking one up on the way.



If you are feeling very energetic, Whites Hill Reserve has great bushwalking with 13 tracks suitable for different ages and levels of ability. One of the walking tracks is to the top of Whites Hill, where you can catch glimpses of the city.

Whites Hill Reserve is definitely worth a visit next time you are in the area.
