Perfect sports and activities for school kids

There is so much information out there for activities to do with babies and toddlers. But what about Mums of school aged kids? What do they love to do with their kids?

We asked the Brisbane Mums Group and you answered. Here is a list of recommendations of the best after school sports and activities in Brisbane.

1. Physical Culture

Physical Culture or 'Physie' is a sport that fuses dance styles such as jazz, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, aerobic dance and even yoga. There are clubs right across Brisbane.

2. Centenary Plains BMX Club

Centenary Plains BMX club has been in operation since 1983. They have a competition quality track, and a sporting and supportive environment for riders and families. You can join the club and there is coaching available.

3. Carina Cobras Basketball Club

The Cobras Club fields teams in all age groups, starting from the under 7's Biddy-Ball for boys and girls. Their objective is to provide a well run organisation which makes basketball available to men and women, boys and girls for all age groups and at all skill levels.

4. Cotter Academy Highland Dancing

"Highland Dancing (not to be confused with Irish dancing)! An athletic form of dance which requires lots of strength and flexibility." - BMG Member

5. Australasian Gymnastics and Dance Academy

Located in Deception Bay, The Australasian Gymnastics and Dance Academy is perfect for kids that love to flip, tumble, jump, and of course, make some new friends along the way.

6. Oxenham Irish Dancing

At Oxenham Irish Dancing, kids can learn the art of Irish dancing for fun and fitness through to Championship level for boys and girls from 3 years through to adult.

7. Little Yogis Kids Yoga

"All three of my kids do Yoga which is a mix of fun games and music with a mindful twist they love it at Little Yogis Yoga" - BMG Member

Held at One Family Yoga and Fitness at Holland Park, Little Yogis Little Yogis teaches playful yoga classes that promote self-expression, inner strength, confidence, self-esteem and respect. Children learn through games, play and storytelling.

8. Judo at Mitchelton Youth Club

"Mitchelton Youth Club has Judo and it has been brilliant. They have a junior and senior group, my girls love it. Itís so great for fitness as well as confidence building, learning how to get out of someoneís hold/self defence." - BMG Member

9. Art Classes at Carli's Home Studio Albany Creek

Carli Wilson Art Studio teaches kids classes for students between 5 to 12 years. Using a wide range of materials and mediums including; acrylics, watercolours, pastels, collage, clay and much more.

Kids can learn the art of public speaking at these speech and communication classes held at locations across Brisbane's inner northern suburbs.

11. Grasshopper Soccer

Grasshopper Soccer is a non-competitive soccer program for children aged 2- 12 in the Brisbane North West suburbs.
