Welcome to our new series - Meet My Suburb! Your one stop shop for useful information regarding Brisbane suburbs.

Wynnum Road, Tingalpa

This week we are focusing on Tingalpa, a suburb roughly 10km east of Brisbane CBD and the perfect mix between old and new.

The suburb has a lot of new estates spring up within the last five years, making Tingalpa a popular choice with new home buyers, however the area still boasts number of older style homes if anyone was looking for the classic 'Queenslander'.

Here's what else is happening in Tingalpa:

Childcare

King of the Castle Childcare Children from birth to 5 years, open from 6:30am to 6:30pm. Meals and nappies provided.

Lead Childcare Tingalpa Children aged 6 weeks to 5 years as well as out of schools hours for children up to the age of 12. Open from 6:00am to 6:00pm with meals included.

Montessorie Early Learning Children aged 18 months to 6 years, open from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Tingalpa Kindy Children aged 3.5 years to 4.5 years, open from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Public, Private and Catholic Schools

Tingalpa State School - Co-ed state primary school, prep to grade 6.

Parks and Playgrounds
Tingalpa is home to a large amount of parks and bushlands, however one of our favourites within the local area has to be the popular 'Minnippi Parklands', which is less than 4 minutes away by car.

This beautiful location is a perfect family day out with lots to see and do, including the Minnippi lagoon where little explorers can spot a variety of water birds and other wildlife.

There is a great 'aviation themed' playground here with control tower and various other play equipment, as well as BBQs and shaded picnic areas if you were looking have lunch with a view. Minnippi, with lots of long winding pathways is also ideal for family bike rides.

Leisure
There is a small shopping centre within Tingalpa, Twin Parks Shopping Centre, which is home to basic ammenities such as a post office, IGA, bottle-shop and Suncorp Bank, however you do have two much larger options within a 10 minute drive - Wynnum Plaza and Westfield Carindale which is where you would find more specialist stores, as well as larger supermarkets such as Woolworths, Coles and Aldi.

The Tingalpa Hotel

If you're looking to eat out in Tingalpa then the Tingalpa Hotel is a popular choice for families. They are open 7 days a week and as well as a delicious new Bistro menu, have an awesome array of kids meals on offer.

As well as several bus routes running from Tingalpa to neighbouring suburbs, the closest train station is located at Murarrie and has regular trains to and from Brisbane CBD.
